MEET THE TEAM
ANDRÉS CRUCIANI, MFA, MS
Writer, Editor, Coach/Tutor
Andrés has been writing, teaching, and editing for over fifteen years. He has a bachelor's from Cornell, a master's in education from Brooklyn College, and an MFA in fiction from The New School. He has worked as an editor, a textbook writer, and a public school teacher. You can find some of his publications in the menu above.
Writer, Editor, Coach
Matthew has edited over two hundred book-length manuscripts, including novels, memoirs, and creative nonfiction, as well as many in the scholarly/academic and reference fields. Matthew has also provided editing to authors preparing articles for submission to peer review journals.
His current clients include numerous university presses and trade publishers, as well as Shambhala Publications (one of the three main North American publishers of works on Buddhism and Eastern religions). Matthew has work experience in Japan, and is conversant in Japanese.
Matthew has recently worked for the Estate of David Rubin, renowned linguist and pioneering scholar and translator of Indian literature, editing and revising his published and unpublished
novels, short stories, and works of criticism for (re)publication. Additionally, drawing on his experience as a screenwriter, he is adapting David’s works for the silver and small screens.
N.V. ESTEBAN, MD, MS
Med School Application Coach
Dr. Esteban is an academic physician with outstanding research, clinical, and educational experience in healthcare. While a Professor of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY, she gained extraordinary experience in the interview and selection process of college students, medical students, residents, subspecialty fellows and academic faculty.
As a member of several institutional selection committees, Dr. Esteban has had the opportunity to review and discuss hundreds of graduate and postgraduate applications. As Director of the Summer Mentorship Program, she personally advocated for underrepresented college students and assisted them through the medical school application process, personal statements, and mock interviews, building a remarkable success record.
Beloved by her students, trainees and faculty, Dr. Esteban has been recognized for nearly twenty years as a "Top Doctor" in New York and Philadelphia and has received multiple awards for her outstanding educational abilities and humanistic qualities.
HASSOON HADI, MS, MFA
Writer, Editor, Coach
Hassoon was a TA and tutor at the University of Massachusetts where he received a master's in physics and a master's in engineering. He later worked as a software developer and a computer programmer for several high-tech companies. Eventually, Hassoon decided to pursue an old passion of his: he moved to New York City to become a writer and graduated from the New School with an MFA in creative writing. Hassoon is currently working on his second novel. He tutors students in Arabic, the Literature Subject Test, all levels of math and physics, and for all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT and ACT. Hassoon is also a fierce chess player who practices Yoga and meditation daily.
AMY KURZWEIL, MFA
Graphic Novelist, Coach
Amy is a New Yorker cartoonist and the author of Flying Couch: A Graphic Memoir (a New York Times Editor's Choice and a Kirkus Best Memoir of 2016). Her writing, comics, and cartoons have also appeared in The Huffington Post, The Believer Magazine, Narrative Magazine, Lenny Letter, The Awl, The Toast, Catapult, and many other places. She teaches comics at The Fashion Institute of Technology and elsewhere.
Paul began his career in translation as an in-house translator for an international credit-rating agency. He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a seven-year Sworn English to/from Spanish Translation and Interpreting degree. Since then, he has been translating for many local and international companies and government agencies. Paul is also licensed with the Association of Certified Translators of the City of Buenos Aires and is certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
Philip Dykhouse lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His work has appeared in Toho Journal, Moonstone Press, everseradio.com, and Spiral Poetry. He was the featured reader for the Dead Bards of Philadelphia at the 2018 Philadelphia Poetry Festival. Bury Me Here is his first published chapbook.
