Well, folks, Andrés Cruciani of Toho Publishing here, and it's the last day of 2018 as I write this. So it's a time of taking stock, reevaluating, and setting goals for the year to come.
The company is less than three months old, and here's what we've done so far:
recruited five editors/translators/writing coaches (aside from myself) to work with us
built a team of four to help get Toho Publishing off the ground
got an LLC
published one novel—both ebook and paperback
for that novel: got the copyright, listed in Congressional library (well, soon), got two ISBNs, translated into Spanish (forthcoming), designed a cover, designed the interior, proofread several times, got 30-50 reviewers, ~15 reviews so far
created ads on Instagram, Facebook, Google, and Amazon
created an email list of 1,000+ recipients
sold 100+ copies of our first novel (in ~10 days, not too bad!)
doubled Andrés Cruciani's Facebook author page audience
had a viral Instagram post
began work on THE ONLY WRITING BOOK YOU'LL EVER NEED LOL :)
partnered with Green Street Poetry (forthcoming in 2019)
created a blog
designed a company logo and built the company website (work-in-progress, of course)
edited three novels for three different authors (Ross Boone's currently in progress)
Looking on what we've accomplished in such short time, it's actually quite amazing! It can be hard when you're in the midst of it, racing against this ever-looming clock (that we call life), and feeling like you're running as fast as you can and yet getting nowhere. AND YET, little by little, we make progress. And we just have to remind ourselves: we're playing the long game.
So, what do we focus on in the new year? What are our goals? Here's what we've come up with:
official book launch/party for THE FATHER
launch of Spanish version of THE FATHER
sell/giveaway 10,000 copies total
publish four more books (including finishing our book about writing)
develop social media strategy—and gain 10k followers on Instagram and Facebook (each)
edit >10 novels (about one a month)
develop marketing strategy (guest blogs, newspapers/sites, TV, radio, podcasts)
improve website SEO (be top of page for self publishing and/or hybrid publishing)
weekly writing workshops (held by Toho Publishing)
And then, the REAL goal: Develop the business to the point that we have a self-sustaining office and a team of highly skilled, motivated, and dedicated employees.
All, of course, are lofty goals. But based on the last two months, they seem achievable. And I know, that working with the team we are building, we will achieve them.
Here is to a successful, peaceful, and joyous 2019. Good luck and best wishes to all. May we all find our purpose.
